The Cartoonist Speaks

I'll be speaking at KC's All Souls Unitarian Universalist Church (4501 Walnut) this Sunday, September 26 at 10 AM. The presentation's entitled "Drawings of Fake Bands, Strange Families, and Imaginary Places," in which I'll examine how tiny drawings in pen and marker grew to consume my very existence. I'll also discuss my influences, my haphazard creative process, and the dangerously glamorous field of newspaper cartooning. Fellow Catholics - I checked with the pope - this will fulfill your weekly mass requirement!

  1. Dear Grant,
I love your humour and funny drawings. The first thing I did early this morning was helping my puberdaughter with her english spelling. She is dutch but does a bilingual education and has to write texts in english and learn how to use adjectifs. She is only 14 but writes at night at her book which she reads to her peers at school. Very funny but with a 'triller' atmosphere. (I don't know how to write it in english). And she is a draw addict. I am sure she will love your work because of the english, the quality of your drawings and the fact you tell a very short story in just in one page. I just wonder how she will develop as an artist (I suppose)and I am curious about how every artist transforms the inner creative power into a visible form. Thank you for your work available on internet.
    Greetings,
    Ingrid
