Why I Draw

Special thanks to sculptor Tom Otterness (a fellow Wichita, KS native), Leonard Bernstein and Stephen Sondheim, and anyone who's managed to snap a photo of the elusive Bigfoot.

Is this why you draw? You can pick up a print in my new and improved poster shop.

  1. Love it. Though the shattering - the frailty, the tenuous nature - is one of the things I love about pottery. Love your comics - keep up the good work!

  5. I can't draw, or really do any of the things on the list, that's why it's a job well done. Oh, yeah.

  6. Although I am not a drawer, it has been a pleasure keeping up with your comics and getting inside the mind of a drawer. I am a writer myself, and
I have to tell you that it is indeed reclusive...but that's one of the many things I love about it! :)

  8. Writers are reclusive? I take that as a compliment. Hehe. Great comic, as always.

  9. I draw when the cards I've been dealt aren't good enough to win the hand.

    or

I draw when the gunfighter draws. It's a matter of survival.

  10. I agree about acting. Its just to...weird. That's why I am an animator, I can act through my characters.

  12. That's great stuff.
I used to draw...apparently not well. Was always told by family "Oh, you draw sooo welllll!" Got to college and found out I didn't. So....

But I appreciate this comic. Its just....swell!

  13. Great work!
I draw because I love to do it. Good a reason as any, I think. :)

  14. I think you've hit just about every reason why I like drawing. I personally don't like taking photos but I love editing photos. Drawing let's you make mistakes and be more creative than anything else without a large commitment.

Writing is fun but it requires commitment and sometimes I just can't do it. This is good inspiration for me to write something, though. Thanks!

  15. By now things are getting a little drawn out, but that's okay. I do some of the other stuff, and I simply find drawing a new and excitingly different outlet for creativity. That's why I'm trying to learn to improve. Yes, that's right... not just improve but learn to.
