The Happiness Cure

(Disclaimer: This comic is in no way meant to comment on clinical depression or any other mental illness. Pharmaceutical treatment is often absolutely necessary in the treatment of such conditions. In this comic I’m addressing the need to feel exceedingly happy in the face of the “mild dissatisfaction” of day to day life.)

Incidental Comics prints are available at my shop.

  3. I've thought about this as I've listened to various music and I realize that we put a lot of importance on being happy. And yes, it is nice to be happy, but it's not something you can manufacture. And, it only works with its own rules, really. So yes to art and sadness and pain, because they lead us to the happiness we need.

  5. In south India, we eat bitter neem leaves and sweet jaggery together on New Year's day. The tradition emphasises the importance of both bitter and sweet moments, just like like great comic does. :) I love your work!

  7. No I don't need to be happy all the time. There are so many emotions to experience.

  8. Love it. Thanks so much for this. Have you seen the movie, "Side Effects," by Steven Soderbergh? This comic is almost exactly what the movie is saying. Peep it out. Keep 'em coming Grant!

  9. This is so beautiful! I've just stumbled across your blog and the way you use words and pictures together is the most touching art I've seen in a while. Really feel glad I've found your work and please keep making these comics! So simple but such clear and beautiful messages
